how can i find out what year my 924 is. there seems to be a lot of conflicting arguments. i thought i found at one time that it is a 79, but recent door lock issues have suggested either a 77 or 78. the vin number is 9249109778.

Here's how it works:
-first 3 digits (924) model
-4th digit, model year (6,7,8 or 9)
-5th digit is the version (1=Europe,2=US,Cal.,Canada, 3=Japan)
-Last 5 digits are the serial number
-1977.5 models were given an extra "1" after the version number

this according to the "original porsche 924" book which has been totally accurtae for me thus far.
