|
|
I share drove my friends 2.4 ltr converted N/A 924 yesterday and what a car!
My supercharged car is very quick, and ultimatley it has more grunt but this 2.4 ltr job is a real flyer with 160bhp.
It pulls from low and revs to 7000 without fuss. Fast enough to beat several cars of up to 100 hp more than it! (2.5 911 s 205bhp, 3ltr carerra 207 bhp, 964 rs!! etc
Whats the secret?
Well its weight. The engine is great but the car now only weighs in at about 830 kilos. You really can feel the difference in braking and cornering and of course acceleration had to improve.
As a result I aim to get more meat off the supercharged car (1000 kilos just now I reckon) although it will be hard to hit 900 or less.
Cheers

how did he make 2.4 litres? Is it a transplant or a stroker? _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

Its a stroker kit from the US.
He is using Luminition and a special piper cam.
I think the comp ratio is about 11:1....but we can use 100 octane fuel here.
Cheers

stroked and bored probably, if I remember correctly in order to make the 924 2.4L by stroking it would require the block and oil pan be machined. _________________ 3 928s, |

Lizard, you are spot on!
Even though it took a bit of work it seems worth it.
If it all holds together I may well go 2.4 with say about 9:1 with the blower and se what that delivers.
Cheers

Its one that came from Eurorace.
The guy there still is knocking them out with a stroker crank and JE pistons plus golf(rabbit) rods.
The crank is welded and then offset ground to give you 2.4ltr
Cheers
