I am looking for a 924 turbo Service Information Manual, and Porsche has discontinued them. I have a 1981 931, and have located a 1982 931 manual. Is it he same as the 81 manual?

Yes
'81-->later (mod 2) are the same and earlier-->'80 (mod 1) are the same.

The factory service information manuals are printed each model year for each car model. The manuals described feature changes between the previous model year and the new model year.

The 81 service information manual for the 924/931 includes tuning/adjustment information on the DITC ignition, since it was new for 81. The manual consists of 66 pages, many of which are charts, graphs, technical data. Much of this graphic information is not useful or necessary when servicing the car.

The 82 service information manual includes information on the revised ventilation system, and some changes to some internal parts of the manual and automatic transmissions, which do not apply to 81 model year cars. It is only about 27 pages, since there wasn't much new for 82.

The information that you would find helpful in the 81 service information manual is also included in Factory 924/931 Workshop Manual Volume with current updates. All of the information published in the Service Information Manuals is/was eventually added to the Service Workshop Manuals by way of Updates which the factory issued, and which are included in currently offered Workshop Manuals from Porsche. The Factory Workshop Service Manual can be purchased for around $70-$75 from Porsche Dealers, or found at swapmeets for between $25-$75.

I just ordered the 924 turbo sub shop manual from porsche about 5 minutes ago ($59.00).... Will this have all the info I need on the DITC system, or will the 81 sub manual have info in it that the factory turbo shop manual does NOT?

$75.00??????....DAMN!.... I was told it was only like $6 or $7 for that little booklet!

Anyone have a photo copier???????
