anyone know where a 944 turbo engine can be gotten cheaply. I'm going to eventualy turn my 924 into a racer and would like to have the turbo option.

There is a lot more involved in installing a 951 engine in a 924S, then dropping in the engine.

951s also have reinforced engine bays, different brakes, different transmissions and different ignition/wiring.

Swaping to a turbo motor would also jump up up into a modified, or unlimited class where your 924S with the original wheel/tire width would not chave a chance of being competitive.

If you are really interested in racing, research what class you would want to drive in, and what changes to the vehicle are legal for that class, before you make any changes to your car.
