Ok so I want to do a conversion of a 944 engine in a 924. from all the post for as far as I can see the only thing that needs to be converted is the crossmember, but I don't know what the hell that is.

it is the heavy metal structure that is bolted to both the front chassis rails below the engine. Your steering rack is bolted to the crossmember. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

That's an interesting project car they have... I'm budgeting for a set of their 17" custom Fuchs...
