1978 NA Front Axle Cross Member - additional Dampner?

Hey all. I just about have the cross member on my 1978 NA pulled but there is a dampner (or other attaching hardware) that's preventing me from removing it from the car. The Cross Member part number in the Porsche parts catalog that I'm looking at is 477 407 321 J, and it doesn't reflect that hardware.

What I'm wondering is, what does that component do, and more importantly, how do I remove it so I can get to my oil pan?
