Hi Folks
Had been hoping to save my 924th post for something really special but here I am.
On my last drive in my favourite car I noticed the initial oil pressure on start up and until the oil got warm was an incredible 10 bar (on the guage). As usual I took it fairly easy initially, and noticed the oil pressure came down to around 4-5 bar; however even at idle the pressure remained at 4 bar...which it never does, usually dropping to around 2 bar.
Now first thoughts were that the guage was faulty, but on return home when I parked up, there was a strong smell of oil, and sure enough, on popping the bonnet, there was oil seepage from all sorts of seals/gaskets and joins. So something certainly is amiss.
My thoughts are to pull the oil pump relief valve.
Recently I believe this was discussed, but I can't seem to find the thread, although I recall 924RACR was involved. I tried to PM Vaughn, but my PMs aren't going anywhere for some reason.
For the record: the motor is recently rebuilt/the oil is correct grade synthetic Mobil1/and no, I haven't checked the pressure with a manual guage....I couldn't get my fat hands down the back of the head.
Any thoughts, Guys? _________________ 80/81 932/8 ROW |

Yeah, seems hard to imagine that'd be anything other than the OPRV... remove and clean! _________________ Vaughan Scott

That happened to me one winter when i had thick summer oil in the car, i could see oil coming out even from the camshaft seal at the front of the engine.
Could be thick oil, could be the valve, or a combination of the two...car having sat for a while, thick and old oil. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits
