Hi, I have a 1982 924 that has a weird issue where the alternator won't charge unless I directly connect 12V to the alternators D+. The voltage regulator and ground strap have already been replaced. Does anyone know where the wire that connects to this D+ goes to or why it doesn't get power?
Thx!

Going from memory, there should be a circuit through the battery warning light in the dash, the combo gauge cluster, which makes the connection to start charging. Is your dash light bulb out/broken or disconnected?

That's what I thought as well so I tested the light and it works but somehow doesn't turn on when I turn the ignition on.

Rev the engine to 4000rpm, if the regulator is faulty the alternator should charge.

Another thing to consider: I recently chassed down a voltage drop issue in my car that turned out to be the wire from the ignition barrel to the positive side of the coil. It looked fine, tested fine but dropped 2 volts!
