Small but nice side benefit of the turbine change is that you get a 7mm Left Handed Nut. At least you will know your nut and fancy compressor wheel won't come off _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Mike how much impact will that have? Roughly...
I lack time recently, a lot, and this means I need to cut the intake manifold, get laser cut flange and weld it together.
I though also about cutting out a V-shaped part of the runners of the 1.8T intake where the injection ports are to get rid of them and straighten the runners, but it's still time consuming and I still need the adapter CNC machined to attach to CH. _________________ ---

Now you have me wanting to try. Maybe I could use Cedric's idea to print a manifold piece but make it straight like this
I'll add it to my to-do list
If you saw the CS head build thread update, the stock intake doesn't really change things that much. Lost a tiny bit at low lift and actually gained at high lift. Kind of nice actually _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Yeah I saw it I remember that for N/A a lot of things matter. Like the lenght of the intake runners to the throttle body (resonance of the waves etc).
I’ve been playing around with VarioRam in a 964 (you can change the length of runners and also introduce / enable resonance chamber). It took some time to tune it properly on the dyno and we ended up close to the factory settings in the end. Mr Vizard says shape matters, not finish. If I think about the radiuses and diameters in the intake - there is not much where this could hurt the flow, it’s low velocity compared to the head port and no valves on the way. When looking at the CGT and GTR intakes these are rather short, so according to my knowledge more HP focused than torque focused. Personally I like torque over HP.
With this long intro, I think if the radius is big enough, be it, it will not make that much difference for the flow. But would love to see this on the chart measured _________________ ---

Damn it's time consuming to install this with engine and exhaust in place. It took me at least one hour for one (top back) of the 4 bolts that secure the mount bracket with oil feed to the bloc, remaining ones was easier, still it took in total like half of a day.

Yeah, for most type of more extensive 931 work its easier to take the engine out, and the end result is often better _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I wish I was at this stage of knowledge about 924 turbos when I had my engine out _________________ ---

I managed to attach a banjo fitting at the wastegate and make a bit more room under the hood by installing the 944 reservoir.
I have an EBC solenoid (3 port MAC Valves one), I was guessing it's working on an on/off basis, but it seems I'm wrong? It has some frequency characteristic, so I expect this could work as a flexible boost adjuster? I.e. less boost at gear 1-2 and more at 3-4-5 by changing it's duty cycle?

Exactly Konrad so you can vary the duty cycle to control the air being bleed. The right ECU can control many things with this feature

You can get about 2 times the boost of the wastegate spring with a 3-port and make it spool a bit faster than with just the spring. _________________ /Magnus, Stockholm Sweden

I need to do some more shopping.
External BOV or recilculation valve?
Brand? Price tag? What you advice?
Then the IC. I found one from MAN L2000 that looks promising.
The inlet /outlet could be placed in the bottom of the radiator.
The shape of those is exactly to fit, it seems so.

Blow off valve is the least important, you can spend less on that.
If you want a recirculating one or dump to atmosphere is a personal preference, if you like the sound or not basically. _________________ /Magnus, Stockholm Sweden

I ordered a used IC for fitment tests. Unfortunately I only managed to bring it to the garage as COVID hit me. So I need to get better and got some time at the same time, which I don't know yet will be.
Anyway in terms of width and height it seems I should be able to install it instead of the radiator. Unfortunately the stock air filter box will not fot for sure. Not sure if the fan behind the IC/Radiator sandwich will fit, or I will need to find one that pushes the air from the front.
So far so good. The IC is really solid, could be used as piece of construction for the front end IMHO haha. It comes from MAN L2000.
Not sure yet though the inlet/outlet will be at top or bottom. We'll see after removing the radiator. _________________ ---

Dang! That is big. Reminds me of a Buick GN IC in a way. First pic you had did not give me an idea on size _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Yeah, it’s rather big. I removed the radiator and it seems I’m missing 1 inch of clearance to fit this.
Now sorry for my english, let’s do descriptive. There are 2 panels/semi frames that go from the firewall to the front that the inner fenders are attached to and that create the stiffenes/frame of the front body. Those two narrow a bit in the radiator area.
I’m missing there less than an inch (2cm) and just thinking about making a small curved cuts to the sides of the IC to fit.
It’s a rock solid IC and for $50 I paid for it worth experimenting _________________ ---
