|
|
In the past 2 years i've been working on a set of parts that would allow us to spice up the 924 a bit and make us love it and drive it even more.
I am very proud of what we have so far and i am very lucky to have you people as the community.
I can only make a hand full of these kits in my spare time and i will only make them on order and commitment...so this is not advertising, its more like bragging
Seriously now, i'm very proud of what we as a community can do if we follow our ideas and support eachother.
I would like to say thank you to the experienced engineers and clever minds that contributed to what we have today.
I would also like to say thank you to the first adopters, the guys who committed on the first batch of these kits.
And with permission, I will use some of the content of their builds on a new website that i made to focus all the information in one spot.
For all relevant information about this kit, please have a look at: https://www.the924.com
Best viewed on a PC with good internet connection as there is some eye-candy tech implemented into the website.
I will keep that place updated, focus is instructions, lessons learned and tips for the people that will install this kit on their 924.
I'll have an article in the TwoFour magazine early this year as well.
To get that magazine in physical form you must be a member on https://porsche924.co.uk
Here is Shaun's first start rev-up:

Here is Chris's supercharged engine, almost ready to go into the car:

Great work, wish these had been around 5 years ago when I had my 2 liter, I might have kept it. _________________ 88 924S

This is truly an awesome offering and project! If all goes well we will be installing this as a small group on Jacobs car. Might see Jacob toward the end of this week so there is a distinct possibility I might be fondling parts of this kit as a bit of a preview
Hoping to own one myself down the line as well
...and I love the Website! _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

As i said, i could have not hoped for a better community!
If you guys will gather for beers and putting this stuff together maybe we can do a video call if the timeframe allows.
I know about some potential improvement points and i try to guide trough them by adding tips, lessons learned and advice on that website but i would appreciate your feedback and ideas for improvement.
Cedric and Erik also did a sort of a test fit/check and so did everybody else that installed or is installing the kit so far..so its a good idea to have a look at how parts fit, maybe even fit them temporarily.
One thing that i recommend..is do the airbox and the supercharger prep in advance by a few days to give the glue (or fiberglass if you're patching the airbox with fiberglass) the chance to cure.
Also that is my recommendation, to use some resin and fiberglass to patch the airbox.
As a news announcement, I'm almost done designing an update/upgrade package for this kit.
It will consist of an update on the charged manifolds so that assembly is easier and flow may also be improved a bit.
It will also include a complete and new air filter box and two brackets. This will completely replace the original airbox and will take a standard cone filter instead of the 924 panel filter.
The purpose is to make this kit truly bolt-on and avoid the butchering of the original airbox.
Once the design is finished and all the parts are ready, i'll test that on my car.
After that, priority will go to the guys that already bought the kit and want the update/upgrade and then i'll resume making new kits with the new design.
Prototypes on my car

That is some more cool stuff
What really makes this great is that you are just handing us a complete fun solution
Hard to find bolt on fun like this in the 924 world especially the NA! _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Can I ask what silver reflective mat are you using behind the engine? Thanks _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

I love making this stuff, this project has made me smile and have more fun that i ever had with the turbos. Also the car is more chuck-able and feels easier to play with at the grip limit..much more predictable and i feel more in control compared to a 924 turbo.
That reflective mat thing is there from some previous owner..i thought about taking it off but decided not to waste my time.
It seems to be a mix between bubble wrap and very ligh aluminium foil…something like those dash sun protection crap you can buy everywhere.
I dont know if its genius or utter crap..so far i havent taken it out. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

Love your work Ciprian.
Mike...check out DEI Inc in the States. They make some great insulating materials, from super thin to heavy firewall material. _________________ 80/81 932/8 ROW |

Thank you Mike. I think i have your email address since our talk about that billet compressor wheel but if you want one of these kits please send me an email and we'll talk there.
This MK2 version of the kit with the bypass valve at the end of the TB charge pipe is easier to install and overall a much cleaner design.
The airbox solution i have for the MK2 kit is also a very clean one as it also takes care of the frequency valve fixation, increases some clearances with other components and eliminates the need for a lot of extra work...so now the kit is literally bolt.
Just needs some testing in the next months and then it will be ready as an upgrade package to the guys that have the old kit and obviously available as the regular kit.
I think that from here on there will only be some fine tuning of some aspects on the kit, like:
-the possibility and option to add a trigger wheel on the crank pulley
-a marking on the crank pulley that allows for more precise ignition timing setting
-the inclusion of the accessories V-belt pulley into the supercharger crank pulley
-addition of the optional crank sensor bracket
-the option to order the kit tailored for the VW/AUDI bigger TB.
I'm trying to offer a somewhat flexible kit so that both people that want to keep CIS and people that want to go EFI have some advantages. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

This is for Jacobs car. The plan is to install as a group as well. This way Jacob has access to a lift etc.
We were meeting up anyway and Jacob hadn't looked at the kit yet. _________________ 1980 931 since 1989
