I know I've been asking a lot of questions, but I'm finally getting back into this project, which is a good thing

So, for the turbocharger, I had my local shop dismantle it, and they said it's not worth rebuilding. They told me that the hot housing has too many cracks in it, and the turbine shaft is too scored/corroded to be worth putting back together.

I guess my question is where do I go from here?

My shop directed me here:
http://www.invasionautoproducts.com/80pocark26tu.html
But they don't have any for sale

I also inquired at Lindsey Racing, but they haven't gotten back to me, about this: https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/LR-K26.html

I'm in WA, and talked to Akers Porsche in seattle, and they didn't have any ideas on what to do either.

So it seems like I'm at a point where I can't find a 931 specific KKK k26 (either new or rebuilt) to buy, and I can't get a hold of those folks to talk about rebuilding mine. So what should I do?

1. Try to get this unit rebuilt? If so, then where?

2. Try to find a rebuilt one or at least one in OK condition... ebay is no luck so does anyone here have one to sell me? Or know where I can go get one?

3. Is there a fairly plug/and/play turbo that I can use with my existing mounting hardware from the one I took off? I'm somewhat adept mechanically, but not that good at fabricating stuff, so the idea of trying to make one fit kinda scares me.

So tl:dr where on earth can I get a new old stock, or rebuilt kkk k26 turbo for this car?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/porsche-944-turbocharger-K26/193732038557?hash=item2d1b544f9d:g:bc4AAOSwHTlfnetS

This could be good parts.. can’t be sure, but it is a 924 turbo..

Your turbo shop could also just not want to mess with it..
Could diy with an eBay k26 rebuild kit.. maybe..

Do you think I could get a k26 for a 944, and then use the mounting brackets/hardware that I have for my 924 and make it work? If so, that seems to open up a lot of options for used/rebuilt units, since a 944 turbo seems more plentiful online (including the one from Lindsey Racing, etc)

1. Rebuilt is probably the only way. All turbine housing are cracked, period. You will not find one not cracked, just need to find the least cracked. All the internal parts can be bought new to rebuild it. If your turbo shop is scratching their heads, find a new shop with skills and sources to buy KKK parts

2. Buying a rebuilt turbo is like buying second hand condoms........you want it in fresh packaging and the bill of sale to prove that it is a good one. Or you will be going back to #1 again.

3. There is no plug and play options. If there was, we would all be using them

Must be a source in the USA for used turbo's to rebuild?
Search ebay globally for used, they will need a rebuild. Always some selling in Europe, especially Germany.

Different turbine flange on 944. Different compressor pipework. Not bolt in. Need a specialist to fabricate if you don't have the skills. Probably cheaper in the long run to rebuild a 924 K26

Thanks! Gonna go after that one, see what it looks like, and see if I can use parts from that one and mine to reconstruct a working one

Thank you, that really helps me make a decision. I appreciate the response!
