hello, i have a 1977 and the temp gauge only reaches the quarter mark, even at idle in traffic. i put a brand new thermostat (OE temp) i know there are two available for this car. im thinking the car will be dumping more fuel since the car thinks its cold. is this normal for this 2.0 liter to only get to a quarter on the guage? never seen any car do this without a problem... thanks in advance. _________________ DANE WILLIAMS |

I'd go checking some cylinder head and thermostat housing temps with a infrared thermometer before I got too radical,my guess would be that they should be over 150-160 degrees, I am getting to not trust the gauges and wiring that much. My voltmeter shows almost a full volt lower than the battery. I spent a couple of hours under the dash chasing that one. _________________ Mike

Saying a CIS car "thinks" about operating temps in relation to mixture is giving it way too much credit.
+1 on the IR temp assessment. _________________ Toofah King Bad
