Hi,
I bought a 924 -79 that don't start, but turns over. I have ordered a bunch of things that might be the problem, while waiting for them i am trying to find the problem with the multimeter.

my real problem now is that I don't seem to have a spark-ECU. I can't find any information on this solution, and my Haynes don't have this in it.
where the ECU should be, on the left wheel well, there is nothing. not even a bracket for one that might have been there.

I tried to follow the wire from the coil to see if it was located some where else. to my surprise it was just hanging under the car with another cable that runs in next to the big loom on the drivers side.

du anyone know this solution? and where are the two wires suppose to be?
wire to coil is light blue, the other one is bright blue.

Please post a picture of your distributor with the cap off.

It's not on the left wheel well on a 79. Its a small box on the fire wall, right in the middle beside the coil.

I think I would have seen it. and the wires should point me in the right direction.

Not the same alu box.

But you have mechanical breaker points, I didn't think the 79 had that, mine hasn't.
Breakers aren't that bad, you just need to keep them clean and adjusted to the right dwell and clearance.
First check that the points open and closes when the distributor rotates. Then put piece of paper between the point gap, with the point closed drag the paper away to clean up the surface. Dirt and grease can keep it from operating.

Ok,
so the Hot-spark electric ignition conversion kit that i ordered won't be to any use when it arrives?

What about the pale blue cable coming from the ignition coil that is hanging under the car? its got one of those hole connectors, so I think it should be bolted somewhere.

It's probably supposed to be connected to the cold side of the starter solenoid to provide power to the coil while cranking. Most distributors with points have a ballast resistor to reduce the voltage to the coil after startup.

That blue wire basically bypasses the ballast resistor to provide all available voltage to the coil while cranking. Check the + post of the coil, it should have 2 wires, one to the starter solenoid and one to the ignition circuit/switch.

It is also normal to also have a condenser installed on the side of the distributor to prolong the life of the points.
