While I wait to see if anyone has any rear disc brake ideas in my other thread I'll ask a question about a bucket list swap I've always been intrigued by. Anyone on here done or know of someone who's done an Audi 5 cylinder turbo engine into a 924? 944 suspension and brakes at that engine would make a fun car.

Boost Brothers
Motorwerks Racing (although thatís the 1.8t)
A few others done it. A nice one in Sweden. But many start a well intentioned engine swap and then fail to complete it.

Those engines are so expensive now it's hardly worth it. The 1.8T makes more sense.

AFAIK VW 4/5 cylinder motors of the last several decades all use the same bell housing, so you could probably do a modern 2.5L I5 swap if you were set on having an odd number of cylinders -- this was used up until recently as a base model motor in the states in the Golf/Jetta and a highly tuned variant of it lives in the Audi TT-RS.

One guy from Belarus done it, and done quite well.
Under the hood:

Underneath:

It's not even close to the top speed, BTW:

And moreover, here's a thread from right here: http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=44218
