|
|
Hi all,
Need a little help on removing the infamous crank bolt. I need to track down a flywheel lock for my 924 2.0 NA. I can only find locks for the 924 s 2.5l or 944 and wondered if they happened to be the same size starter ring with teeth spacing as the 2.0l NA.
I have tried the home approach of locking in gear with brakes on but still too much play in the transmission/clutch so can’t crack the bolt off.
I don’t have access to air tools or impact gun so looking for the lock as my only option.
Thanks in advance

Having an auto NA I couldnt put in gear and undo mine either.
The work around (not recommended) for me was remove the coil HT line to dissy and using a long breaker bar.
Lock the breaker bar against the chassis and briefly crank the engine. this loosened the crank nut so I could remove the pully. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Thanks Ozzie,
Very creative
Did you have any issues with the bolt after that, rounded head etc?
Thanks

no, all good after.
Removing HT lead from coil is a must, heard stories of engine starting when others have tried this.
I also used loctite when replacing _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

944 flywheel lock should work... the 944 has the same starter, I have swapped those between models, so I don't see why the flywheel lock wouldn't bolt up. |

Thanks SVO
Couldn’t find any info on a 2.0l vs 2.5l and starter ring differences.
If you have used a lock on both types and it worked that’s good to know _________________ Witty924 - Porsche 924 2.0l NA 1984 |
