While working on an overheating problem on my 1981 924 I found out the radiator cooling fans were running backwards. Reversed the leads and they turned the other rotation and now it cools the engine as it is supposed to do. Don't know when that happened but maybe that was the cause of an overheating head gasket failure 17 years ago that caused the car to sit.

Thought I would share, it seems basic but it got overlooked for a long time. If you are having overheating problems, check your fan rotation.. it is supposed to turn clockwise when you are facing the car from the front.
