Porsche 924 1981....just finished putting engine back in....in starter and alternator....battery light is on....I'm going to start tracking wires for a bad ground....but any easy ones you guys could think of would be great

Ground wire from alternator to block installed and in good shape?

Alternator belt tight?

That thing is a nightmare to get at, it's a horrible design. If it is that, I'd suggest not even trying to fix it and just make a new one.

I made a new alternator earth between the rear cover bolt that's actually accessible and one of the water pump bolts on my engine using some 12AWG and a couple of ring terminals. Works nicely.

I'm thinking the B+ wire is 10mm so the ground wire should be the same or 8 AWG.

4mm 12 awg
6mm 10 awg
10mm 8 awg
