|
|
In my haste to get to setting the timing on my 931, I plugged the wires on the back of my tach wrong/backwards. Even worse, possibly connecting power straight to the ground. And now I've not only got a dead tach (waste), I've got a dead 1980 931 GREEN tach.
Luckily, the wires are fine, I've still got ideal voltage and continuity. But I would rather drive blind than replace it with the regular white gauge face.
Hopefully I've got a replacement lined up tomorrow, or I'm gonna have a helluva time trying to buy an S1 tach and not the whole cluster, or swapping faces with a regular 924 tach.
Don't be like me and try to wire off memory, look at the flow diagram, as frustrating as it can be. Take your time, check as many references as possible, and ask any questions before you proceed. _________________ '80 931 M471 - Dolomite Gray -> Monaco Blue |

I got a Sharpie and marked my gauge with wire colours before I removed the wires many years ago. Gauge only been out once since and those markings saved me and the gauge _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Got my "new" tach earlier this week, wired it properly this time, and was finally able to set ignition timing!! Now I have to fiddle with the fuel mixture.... _________________ '80 931 M471 - Dolomite Gray -> Monaco Blue |
