For track use I am looking for a quicker steering rack form my 931.

I saw that some 944 guy's use a 944 powersteering rack and delete the pump, etc.

Is the worth the effort ? (I know I need to relocate the brackets)

????????????????

What would 1.5:1 or 2:1 give us after the math?

From the Tech Specs booklet:

924 all markets / 931 US+Canada+Japan
Steering ratio: 19.15:1
Turning circle: 10.08 m
Track circle: 9.21 m
Turns, lock to lock: 4.02

931 ROW (option for US+Canada+Japan)
Steering ratio: 22.39:1
Turning circle: 10.3 m
Track circle: 9.5 m
Turns, lock to lock: 4.02

Ok it looks like their are only 2 924 racks.. 22.39:1 and 19.15:1

22.39:1 + 1.5:1 = 14.92
or 11.2:1 with a 2:1 quickener..
I think our 931s have the 22.39 boxes

How does a 15:1 steering ratio sound?

Or with the 19.15 ratio rack you get 12.77:1 or 9.58:1 after a quickener box..

Final options =
9.58:1
11.2:1
12.77:1
14.92:1

19.15:1
22.39:1

Sound like some pretty good options to me. How do those ratios sound to you? I don't know what the preferred ratio would be honestly..

Putting a quickener box in the middle of the steering shaft sounds like the easiest and least intrusive path to quicker steering to me..
Then, after you made 1, you could swap racks and quickeners easily just bolt on style to change between all of those options whenever you want. Just swap in the different quickener or rack with no fab work..

All of this trying to use the wrong rack, a depowered power steering rack at that, making all those mounts, making tierods, making a steering shaft anyway, nah..

Prolly cheaper too..
