Help - no handbrake light

Hi,

I just 'fixed' the plug on the headlight motor, I forgot to disconnect the battery and got a spark from the pins. Fired up the car and the handbrake light stayed on, when I released the handbrake it dimmed but stayed on. I shut it down and started it again, the oil light, battery and handbrake light are on with the first turn of the key. Fire it up and all go out - handbrake light not on at all with the handbrake on or off. All fuses are ok - not burnt out. Confused.

Any help greatfully recieved.

Have you checked the contact switch on the parking brake lever?
