|
|
Hi
my oil pump is in bad condition, I need to change the 2 pinions inside (too much play)
I cannot get a new one
price for custom rebuild is really expensive
it seems that the oil pump coming from the:
VW LT 2.5 tdi share the same internals
so I can buy it and rebuild it
I would appreciate some advices or tips
thanks for your help |

Is it not worth sourcing another second hand/used pump that's not suffered the wear? They are the same in 2.0na and turbo. They rarely wear out unless exposed to poor oil + debris. I had 3 pumps to hand when rebuilding my engine. Only one of the 3 was slightly out of desired tolerance. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

All na and turbo engine blocks and oil pumps ARE the same part. Only pistons are different.
If you don't have a 924 used parts supplier in France/EU then try https://wooliesworkshop.com/ in UK _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Agreed. They are the same part. I used an oil pump from a naturally asperated parts bin on my 931 rebuild. No issues. Would be interestwd to see the picture of the different pump you found.
The blocks are the same as well between the na and turbo. The only difference on the blocks is the angle of the breather pipe. Yes they are different part numbers, but I've them side by side and there are no cast differences.
