The shifter knob on my 87 924s is pretty worn, I was wondering if I could put a screw on knob there instead but the threads for the after market ones are much thinner than the wide shifter on my car. Is there are adapter that I can put there to make aftermarket knobs fit? _________________ 1987 Porsche 924s . Best First Car Ever |

RancidLatte,
I had the same situation going on (along with worn bushings but that is another story). I ended up removing the shiftier, shortening it by 1.5" and welding a 1.25" section of of m12x1.5 threads cut from a grade 8.8 bolt. I chose m12x1.5 as that matched the knob I wanted to use (intended for a VW), your selection my vary. I will say this though: This mounting configuration does transmit way more vibrations and drive line noise than the OEM style slip on knob. |
