Just sitting in the shade of a big 'ol chestnut tree drinking a beer in between runs. Such a good event, well run, well attended. The theme this year for Goodwood's Silver Jubilee is PORSCHE ! So awesome..... Will post picks when I get back home to a PC. _________________ 1979 Euro 931, Olive

Nice! I've been there couple of years ago. Really nice event, you don't know where you need to look, so much is happening all over the place! _________________ 911SC - 1980 |

Oh there are pics but I can't load them until I get back to civilization. After Goodwood we flew to Czech, borrowed a car from a buddy and are now enroute to Gallipolli, Turkey via Slovakia, Hungary, Rumania, Serbia and Bulgaria. Just grabbing lunch somewhere in Serbia right now actually on the highway to Sophia....

Sure did ! It was the perfect year to go with Porsche being the main theme. To be honest it wasn't quite as big as I thought it would be but it was 'just enough' for the 2 days we were there.
I will say this about Englad, the road laws are crap and the ever present cameras and police makei it feel incredibly intimidating for someone from a free country...also the speed limits are 'full retard'. I mean, the highways are limited to 50 mph but the 5 foot wide back roads with no shoulder, blind corners and hedges constantly brushing the side of the car are 60 mph ?! The UK Nanny State needs to re-evaluate a few things there...

I guess you get used to your own laws. Not a lot different in UK than Europe. Highways are 70, dual carraigeways in built up areas can be 60 or indeed 50. Believe yours are 55 in most locations? Whilst back roads have 60, the chance of doing so is not always likely.
You think the US is any more free than than UK? Don’t believe that comment.
What I will say though is at least we don’t spend our days dodging bullets. Our gun laws are rock solid. No chance of maliciously or accidentally getting shot over here. Don’t believe what you hear on Fox ‘fake’ News _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

It was great to hear some national pride, Carrera. No place is perfect but we should all be proud of where we live.

Um....no.
To begin with, as others have noted I am Canadian, not American.
Where I come from there are little to no police. The reason is simple, we are a fairly law abiding people that will follow most rules set out by the state except those that are blatantly illogical. We don't 'do' just because we're told to by Big Brother. While the speed limits within most cities is 50 kph we all do 80-90 and the police are right there beside us doing it as well. Our highways are posted at 130kph but it is the norm to do up to 160kph+ in good weather and no body cares. You see, the government here has learned that if we are happy citizens and not f'ed with daily over un-neccessary crap then we won't bitch over taxes and the like. They get what they want (money), we get what we want (freedom). If you're married you will appreciate the compromise here.
Putting up insanely low speed limits on the roads and video surveillance to monitor every move of it's law abiding citizens is crazy. It just makes society into an Us vs. Them competition. No one wins.
As for guns in the US i don't see what that has to do with the price of tea in China. Completely off topic. But, in full disclosure I will add that I have spent about a year of my life in the US for both work and travel. In this time I have never, ever heard a shot fired outside of a gun range. All of my Yankee friends own guns, some even have belt fed machine guns, and yet none have rampaged with them. Maybe the guns they own are defective, i'm not sure.
You may also be suprised to know that of Canada's 30 million inhabitants there are 2.05 million of us with firearms. Rifles, pistols and even fully automatic machine guns. Want to know how I know this ? I am the manager of a firearms manufacturing / importing corporation, Dlask Arms Corp. Yes, I am a federally registered arms dealer.
Does this suprise you ? That we have the same , and in some cases better, access to firearms here but don't do stupid shit with them ? You lefty snowflakes need to understand that guns are simple inanimate objects. It's a defective human mind that causes the damage with them. Take away guns and you get things like semi trucks ramming into Christmas Markets and stabbings on bridges in places like...London. If someone ran accross a bridge in Texas stabbing people he would be shot dead by the 'good guys' with concealed PDWs in seconds flat.
Guns are not bad, they are just a tool for lazy people that don't own big trucks.
I agree with Jazz Guy, you need to educate yourself with genuine facts before stomping into a debate about something as contentious as firearms. If not then someone that actually knows what they are talking about may come to school you on the subject.
One thing I will say about England, you have great fish and chips.
