Hello all,

I'm currently reinstalling my turbo after removing it to repair a vacuum leak. While removing the wastegate, I removed the wastegate seat from the wastegate.

This is the seat that the wastegate piston pushes against when closed.

Looking at marks on my wastegate and the seat piece, it appears that there was some kind of hard ring/ seal between the seat and the wastegate. I can't find anything in my bits and was hoping someone could tell me if there is indeed a ring/ seal, or whether the seat just bolts directly to wastegate body.

A link to a pic (not mine) showing the wastegate and seat.

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=930+wastegate+seat&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjeseGP2dbaAhVHULwKHTJtC-YQ_AUICygC&biw=1682&bih=826#imgrc=pRhsbrENl8XuvM:&spf=1524702956281

This imagine shows no gasket or seals. My wastegate has a mark around the seat and corresponding area on wastegate, suggesting there may have been a ring installed which each piece sealed against.

Does anyone know whether a ring or seal is normally installed between the wastegate and seat?

There is no gasket between the valve seat and the body of the waste gate. Just make sure they are really clean before putting it all back together.

Cheers,

Ian
