Awesome project! Just a little input from a former hx35 user: I had this turbo on a 4cyl engine with 1.9l of displacement and I could barely get it to spool before 4.5K... then it would promptly take me right to redline. this turbo was designed primarily for diesel applications with displacements between 5 and 6.5l... I ended up feeding it with a tdo4 (compound setup) but that’s an entirely different story. A street car would certainly benefit from some low end grunt off the line, I think that much lag would take some fun out of it, and no one wants to 2 step this thing off every stop light just to pull out faster than the mini van next to it. I would shop turbos based on compressor maps and see what fits your needs.. albeit it’s a big part of your puzzle, but it’s not the entire game. Good luck on your quest!

I'm running FrankenCIS too but I replaced my fuel distributor with a CIS-e V8 unit and am running no WUR..

It has been working pretty good for me.. It works and tunes pretty well..

My main thread on it here with some logs and kindof my progress reports..

If I were starting again with my car, I’d buy a crate GTS motor and all GTS spec ancillaries from Mittelmotor. Their race GTS makes 395 bhp on stock GTS spec CIS and K26 #6 with modified compressor side. It’s pretty quick in FIA historic racing only being beaten by 935’s. They can sell all parts and build cars from scratch. Their GTR build is pretty impressive too.

iirc the GTS injection system is a 928 FD and all off-the-shelf CIS parts from Bosch, other than the custom fuel lines, mounts, air filter box, etc..
Injectors are standard 931 injectors..

I would consider a CIS-e V8 fuel distributor on FCIS superior to the old WUR based CIS of the original GTS/928..

I don't have any idea what a GTS crate engine and all ancillary components must cost, but at that point I would be more likely looking at a catalog of Chevrolet crate engines..
