For anyone that wants to know how to determine if a shift sleeve is too worn here is a picture. My 2-3 shift sleeve has been worn for some time. ( I had used the best one from my stash) Just did not have the cash for a new one until recently. 2nd and 3rd would grind if I didn't shift slowly. I just put the new sleeve in this weekend. I don't need to even think about shifting now. The 2-3 shift sleeve is the same in all of the snail shell transaxles but is very pricey. I needed to special order it from Germany. It is P/N 928.302.413.13 and cost $526.50 delivered.
The new one is on the right:
