Hey guys, haven't been around the forum much in a while but just wondered about something...

I know the guy who owns this porsche, he lives a little ways from my house, and i am kind of wondering what you guys think about me taking this car and making it full daily race car.

I don't know where to start for cheap performance mods, been wondering about a weber 40 conversion, your thoughts?

Its just going to be a daily just to run around in, but i want more power than what the ol 77' can offer. I know there was a compression change in 80 (so i heard) and i used to have an 81 which was slow already so i cant imagine how slow this is.

basically 2 questions
1. it has basically no interior so it would get a metal race dash and metal door cards put in by me and it needs paint, so is this even worth it?
2. Cheap go-fast build on a 924? aka better than 9.8 second 0-60 please.

Heres the listing:

It's basically got a decent condition (minus paint) body and it runs, that's it. I was thinking offerring him like 500$ or less. And I know the owner

You can upp the compression with different pistons and upgrade the ignition system to run a more aggressive advance curve...that should spice things up a bit.

Then you can machine the flywheel, crank and rods to get a nippier engine and perhaps add some area under the curve.

If it were my money, I would wait for a better example to come up for sale. You're going to spend more than it's worth just to get it on par to daily drive or even just to be safe when you race. With how many nice 924s are out there under $1k, why would you buy that particular one? It doesn't even have the shark teeth on both sides.

I'd personally walk (run) away, unless by race car you mean LeMons. In that case, go for it!

in my area there are like 3 924s for sale. there used to be 4 but now one of the 79s that was floating around disappeared. Basically I want one and there are no ok examples around that are reasonably ok with what i want to spend to get it how i want it.

I likely wont get into professional racing in the next few years... essentially i just want to get some minimal performance gains out of a 924. I want better street performance while still keeping it dailyish

It was just a thought nonetheless because i know the guy who owns this car and i met him when i just happen to see a 924 and just pulled over and got out to talk to him because i haven't met a whole lot of owners.
