hey all - any ideas on how to move the tach to the center, like all other Porsche's?

I pulled the cluster to install new led's and likely put in a new speedo cable while here, but the speedo cable isn't long enough to pull over if my speedo is on the far right.

I seen it done, anyone steer me in right direction?

Ive done it, its essential for me, i can barely see the tach otherwise on track . I had to reroute the cable a bit. It wasnt optimal but it works.

Pull Speedo and Tach out. Move them. Re wire. Simple

Here's a step by step photo journal of the gauge swap process. I recommend that you only do this if you really, really want the tach in the center. Click the link to get to my Flicker site and then click on the first picture below the title picture. You can scroll down on each picture to read the corresponding wirteup which includes tips and warnings. This swap was done on an 88' 924S. Good luck!

If you click on the "show more" phrase on the title picture you will find the tools needed and some other comments regarding this project. I recommend that you view all the pictures and read all the comments before deciding whether to proceed.

wow ronjeds, thank you! I was thinking there was more to the speedo cable (step 29 - thanks!), that's the difficult part.

I already have gauges out, will order new speedo cable (was going to do Auto Atlanta if no one else has other suggestion) and reinstall. Also doing the LED upgrade at same time.

Looks fairly easy with pretty big pay off, so I'm in!

One thought is that the speedo cable for RHD cars (UK, Australia, Japan) will be longer than for LHD and using that cable may facilitate moving the speedo on LHD cars without sheet metal cutting.

brilliant kingzetts, thanks.

The part # I'm finding, if anyone has expertise here, is 211957801E. It appears it also fits or comes from the VW bus type 2 55-67.

Coming in at <$20 I'll just order it and see what happens. I'm waiting on more led's anyway.
