Hi im from Malaysia. Currently helping a mate getting this 924 2.0 back on the road, which he got for free...
As you can see, lotsa work to be done. Np radiator + tank, no intake hoses and timing cover. Also missing the front sway bar (must be stolen haha). Interior wise, no front seats and steering wheel. The fugly fibre bodykit needs to go... Im also looking for original 14" wheels. (only have one in the spare wheel well).
Hope to hear from you guys, I need all the help I can get.
Shes got a turbo front end
Fugly bodykit
Pulled the engine out
Fuel divider
Cyl head. No.3 exhaust valve busted.
Pistons
No.1 crank journal worn and pitted
Conrod bearings... whats left of them...
Anyone want free coca-cola?...
Cheers,
Syed

Welcome!
Wow, that engine has had a hard life, seems like it has been running very lean to burn a valve, or very tight valve lash. I wonder about the crank damage, i wonder if it has been running without oil or something similar, its super rare to see these kind of damages on a standard 924. can you find what you need for a rebuild?
Surprising to see one in malaysia, is it an import or did it sell there new? _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

My guess: no oil change, ever....use a mix of wrong oils + running it hard.
The damage looks extreme indeed. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

Welcome!! I like the color!
Let us know what you need for the rebuild, I'm sure you can find the majority of it within the community.
What type of sway bar do you have on the front...are there mounts to the frame, or are there bars that drop it down a bit. I have a spare sway bar for the non-frame mounted version...would be able to ship to Malaysia.
Cheers,

I've got all the intake hoses in decent condition. The cheapest way would be to find some one that imports containers from US, Then all we would have to do it ship it to the folks filling the container and the expensive part of shipping is basically free. I sent a kayak paddle with a container of truck axle parts to Australia. _________________ Mike
