I'm in the process of installing front fog lights on my 1987 US spec 924S and have a few questions because my wiring diagram doesn't adequately show the fog light wiring.

My car didn't come with fog lights from the factory, although it does appear that the wiring, at least for the front fog lights is already there. I understand that I need lights, a couple 5 pin relays (or a factory double relay), a fuse, and a switch.

The issue I've run into is that there appears to be two uses for the switch location under the oil pressure gauge as there are two different part numbers:

944 613 110 00 - Rear fog light switch

944 613 111 00 - Fog light switch

Note that these are both 6 pin switches designed to fit under the oil pressure gauge NOT the small switch behind the shifter. Is one a US spec switch and one a ROW spec switch?

In my 1980, the dealer installed switch operates the front fog lights which are bolted on under the bumper. I believe by looking at pictures that the switch is the 944 613 111 00 switch. I don't know if there's any wiring there for rear fogs.

So my question is, is there any difference in these switches other than the symbol on the rocker? Are they both two position switches? Are the US cars - specifically my 87 924S- wired for rear fog lights as well as the front fogs? And if they are wired for both, would one of these switches allow me to operate both features assuming I installed lamps in both the front and rear?

I've looked at wiring diagrams and the PET. Neither has been overly useful.

Probably not helpful but here's a photo of my factory/dealer installed fog light switch on my '77.

agfisher, that's the same switch as the factory installed one in my 1980.

I ended up ordering one online (944 613 111 00) for my 924S. It's a 2 position switch (on/off). I still don't know what the difference is with the 944 613 110 00 switch. I suspect that it's a 3 position switch. Maybe somebody else on here will chime in.

The 924S now has operational front fogs. I'll update my thread in the 924s forum with install details soon.

Not sure how helpful this is, but the front fogs on euro cars operates from one of the 4 rocker switches on the rear of the centre consol. The switch under the oil pressure gauge is for rear fogs. The front fogs are actually additional driving lights in UK, with a side (marker) bulb also, they also operate from the headlamp flasher control if headlamps are down.
