So I go on vacation and the wife trades in the Blue Lemon for this Coal Burner while I was away. (Before and After pix).

Choke - Gasp - Sputter

Dan , Dan, Dan, I thought we had her convinced to remain in the German family of transportation.

Coal burner or not, it's great looking and has amazing out of the hole acceleration.

Yeah, the acceleration is definitely eye-opening, although I apparently need to call Tesla to have the 85MPH governor removed. I don't like the steering wheel (too thick), and I still can't get the seats adjusted to where they feel comfortable. I find them to be somewhat featureless slabs...guess I'm spoiled with the sportier seats in the Porsche family.

So far, the supposed 240 mile range is way optimistic. My wife has a 35 mile commute one way, but it consistently uses up 90+ miles of range on the round trip. And it's not even cold yet. It will be interesting to see what happens this winter.

It's a comfortable commuter, but IMO not practical for much else. We have friends that do cross country trips, but the 30-minute stops every 200 miles, not to mention having to stick close to freeways, would make me crazy! The wife wanted it for the navigational aids and safety features, due to some vision challenges she's been having. So it's nice for that.

It's not the car I would pick for me. Other than giggle-inducing acceleration, I find it otherwise kind of meh.

Oh, and we're signing papers this week to start a solar installation project. We're getting dual 10KWH systems installed on the shop roof: one for the house and one for the outbuildings. That should get us close to net zero on our electrical consumption, even with the 240V charger for the Tesla.
