I am restoring my 1981 Porsche 924 and have a question on the interior. On the top of the backseat there is a small piece of carpet and above that there is a rollup vinyl piece that resembles an old fashion window shade. You know the type, you pull town and it stays, you pull a little more and the shade rolls back up.
My question is what is this and where does it go to? The ends of the encasing metal channel are bad and I don't know if repair pieces can be obtained.
Do many people just remove this and not reinstall?
Thanks in advance for any help.

That is the luggage shade that allows you to conceal items in the rear hatch area. The retractable shade is supposed to have two hooks that can be used to retain the shade; the hooks attach to loops that are integral to the rear hatch pin receiver assemblies. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Thanks for the information. That makes sense. Now to see if I can get it to work. Is it supposed to automatically retract like a window shade?
