|

Does anyone know the best sunroof repair thread? My drive cable is hooked to the motor still but it is pulled out and runs around the taillights and spare tire. The micro switches are loosely mounted and I think the long curved gear on right side is missing. My sunroof needs lots of help. I have found threads on the gears and the clutch but I need something a little more in depth to solve all the problems.
Thanks Paul _________________ 87 924S |

I've been meaning to make thread on this for a while now but haven't had the time... I'll try to help you the best I can.
What usually happens is over time the slip-clutch doesn't slip like it should... even if the micro-switches are mis-adjusted, it should just slip. Instead it strips the gears and rips the cable out, like what you've described.
So, what you're going to need to do is feed the cable back through and order new gears. Then you'll need to adjust the slip clutch first and set the micro-switches.
Let me know if you need any more info and I'll try to guide you through it. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

I am looking for the right side lift arm(long curved gear). Mine is missing. Anybody have one you would sell? I pulled the motor out and reinstalled the cable with a healthy coat of grease. Then I found out the cam is broken where the cable attaches. Ordered an aluminum one from Only944. Going slow but making progress. _________________ 87 924S |
