This just in!

Here's the full article:

https://www.pca.org/news/2017-03-14/amelia-island-auctions-porsche-market-cools-slightly-still-has-big-winners

Quoting directly from the report:

"Other interesting sales from all over the price spectrum included what was one of the least expensive Porsches on offer in Amelia: a 43,000-mile 1987 924S that sold for just under $20,000. Under 20 grand at Amelia qualifies as an impulse purchase and this certainly doesn’t mean that every clean, under-50,000-mile 924S is now 75% more valuable. This is still a car that you can find on Craigslist for under $10,000. But recent strong Bring a Trailer sales ranging from Audi-engined 924s to 968s, combined with the generally strong showing of the transaxle cars on offer in Florida (RM’s 1988 944 Turbo S brought $46,200), it certainly seems like interest is growing in this segment of the Porsche market. The 968, 951 and 944 S2 trains have already left the station. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the supply of really nice, under-$10,000/under-75,000 mile, post-1985 944s doesn’t dry up before 2017 ends."

Feeding frenzy on all the Porsche models. All with high bids. The 924 looks like a bargain in comparison. Just a lot of deep pocketed buyers in one room soaking up the atmosphere and the booze.

That said, 924 and 944 prices in UK & EU are more in line with the results of this auction.

I was watching a recent (Feb?) RM auction on Evo and a 924 Carrera GT sold for €61,000.

Panorama (PCA magazine) has had many listings recently at prices significantly above the commonly quoted five-hundred or a thousand bucks.
