Decided to run with the smaller vents on the front fender. Something feels like early corvette stingray to me. Love it.
Btw-under the hood doesn't look half bad. Will be painted of course.

Alright, so SLOMO asked me what I did for lightening the doors, so here goes:

Finally grabbed my best cat and headed out to the garage. It's been a tough couple of weeks but I ain't hurrying for no one... for nothing. I'm doing everything right this time.
Removed the spoiler. don't need it anymore.

In my pursuit of less lift I would like to build a rear diffuser. The back end of this car isn't so easy to do that with.
Check out this video. Have you ever looked under a Lotus? SMOOTH ALUMINUM... 100% These cars COOK, I had a very rapid trip around the Autocross circuit last summer. Soiled myself!

Painted the backside and applied the LePage construction adhesive before the ss rivets.
Here's a comparison of width and length of the new wing versus stock spoiler.

One concept that has been tantalizing my taste buds has been the concept of flipping the header but there isn't enough clearance. Also I need to read up on the function of the blow off valve and recommendations for mounting position of it externally.

Alright so to avoid confusion, my intent wasn't to build a "Hater pipe" through the hood LOL. I was considering making a exhaust manifold that used the oem primary tubes welded to a "log" and routed around the front of the engine. Benefits would be:
-less exhaust near the fuel lines(lessen chance of fire)
-less exhaust congestion to deal with (only a single pipe going rearward - like an n/a).
I wanted to to explore ALL options of air management (routing specifically). But after consideration, the idea is rejected. I have decided to mount the turbo and exhaust pipe very similar to how Spencer's picture shows... based on oem concept, but a bit differently.
Future ambitions will probably include a rad/intercooler extractor vent like in the following pictures, so I need to keep the area "free". Fortunately the afm will be out of the way (because standalone/map sensor replaces) & if I re-route the upper rad hose I should be golden.

First step for me today was building a turbo mount using the supplied manifold flange. This is what drives the turbo with exhaust gas. Unfortunately the flange is not threaded, which means bulkier mounting because external nuts.
I used 2 1/2" exhaust pipe with enlarged ends. I had to "shrink" the ends to fit the flange as closely as possible with vise grips after turning the round tube square with a hammer & a bench vise.

Pretty cool you're doing this.
Cant wait to see this thing running...I wonder how you will find the turbo cars. _________________ https://www.the924.com |
