cool vents, did you check the air pressure in those areas? your plan is to extract heat and air from the engine compartment? _________________ https://www.the924.com |

Brother M,
Did I check air pressure in those areas? No.
Heat concerns? Yes. Especially with future plans of a flat bottom (which I will re-design because the all aluminum panels were too loud). |

Adjusted the positioning so won't interfere with the rigid "pillars" of the hood underneath, but going to have to trim 1" off both middle panels.
I want the hood vents to be as rearward as possible because I think it will function best that way, given Wilson's engine compartment.

Well I have probably wasted time & money (again)... why do I always have to do things the HARD WAY?

Dealing with warpage cause buy heat mostly.
And I don't think I can body fill because the louvers are close to the welded areas and warpage...
I was tempted to try this construction adhesive to avoid heat.

Why add louvres? They usually cause more heat problems than they alleviate _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Why louvers? Increased down force & cooling is my thought. Is there evidence to support the contrary? |

-Got some sick satisfaction cutting those out for future use, then promptly threw the hood out. Up yours! I'm done with doing things the hard way. I always seem to think it's better for some reason. Idealist thoughts perhaps.
Then cleaning the garage from all the welding slag & grinder dust. I hate that smell... could never be a welder.
Well to power my car I'm going boosted the easy way. And for hood louvers I'm going the easy way. That's how it's going to be bitches.

I can see this being the case with louvers that allow air in, but mine would allow extraction. |

Headlights.
My 4x6" Hella European non sealed beam lights with relay harness upgrade & 100/80 watt bulbs have been good enough for these tires old eyes when I ran without pop ups.
But I want to update the look a bit, hopefully without any compromise in brightness, so just popped the tag off these babies:

I almost gave up on the idea of hood vents, but then I remembered something my dad told me; "You weren't put on this earth to fail!"
I'm so pleased. One set of louvers on using heavy duty (paintable, water resistant) construction panel adhesive and lots of stainless rivets. Totally pumped with how it turned out so far!

I started thinking about what makes one of the fastest 944 turbo cars perform so well and what I could borrow from Patrick's technology and apply to Wilson.
http://www.evolutioncustomindustries.com/time-attack-porsche.html
Because Wilson is a street car I'm limited to how low I can drop the suspension and I know from experience the splitter I will run has to be very short. So I'm limited for devices to use for down force.
It's logical to me that these would help air passing through the rad to convert to downforce rather than lift.
Additionally the cooling effect in between runs means I don't need to lift the hood.
And I enjoy the look. My favourite cars have some type of louvers. |
