I am looking for a replacement rear silencer for my 931. In PET I see three different part numbers

931 111 050 05 - this could be a sport silencer
931 111 050 06 - this seems like the standard silencer
931 111 050 05 - this is the Carrera GT silencer

Surprisingly you can actually order these again from Porsche. However I know there are many after market variants available. I have seen the Dansk pipes and I don't like them. The round hole in the oval trim piece looks cheap and I would like to use the factory mounting points which is a problem when buying most other alternatives.

I would appreciate your experience and advice on this subject.

Prices must be insane on the oem stuff? According to the cgt manual the silencer is shorter and lighter. The whole exhaust system use fewer hangup points as well.

I actually drove a stock 931 with complete factory CGT exhaust, it was very quiet and refined. Almost to quiet.

Find a custom stainless exhaust company and get them to make one specifically for your car. There's many of these companies in U.K. Assume you have a few too. You can get them to build exact replica or modify it. Can also tune the sound and put the tailpipes on to your liking.

Avoid Dansk. They fail too easily.

I would suspect it's hard to get a genuine exhaust these days

Thanks, I have dropped a couple of emails to local custom fabricators. I have given them the specs you mentioned in the intercooler thread. I will also be removing my primary silencer. I suspect it is rotten on the inside anyway since it is resonating.

But I also spoke with my parts guys at the local Porsche Dealership.
The newly manufacture original rear silencers are between €300 and €950, with the 931 being the most expensive and the 944 the cheapest. What I cannot figure out is the difference between these silencers.

Most sites states that 924 and 944 have the same silencers. I know the mounting points on the 931 is different to a 951, but I think the silencer itself is the same?

924 and 944 turbo have a 4 bolt flange between front and rear sections and are interchangeable. 924S and 944 have a 3 bolt flange and don't work with turbos.

I ran a straight pipe for minute. Sounded like a tractor under 2000rpm. Once the turbo is spooling it sounded great. But just coulded stand the tractor noise. Fitted one small silencer. Now it's spot one
