I picked up this Alpine white '87 924S a few months ago. Originally, I planned to use it as a parts car. However, I've been thinking that this car is just too nice to rip apart any further, so I'm going to try and put it back together.

I have the title and I probably only need $400 worth of parts to make it drive-able... giving me a pretty nice car for $1000 total. The plan is to make it a daily beater. It has some dings and is an automatic, so it will be perfect for daily use. I already have two other 924S' that I can take when the roads get twisty.

This one will be for getting groceries, going to work, and sitting in traffic...

I have most of the parts needed to get it running again. This will be a long term project. I plan to make it a martini tribute, complete with stripes, red carpet, and white phone dials.

Here's more pictures of the project car. There is a lot to do, but it shouldn't be any problem. The engine turns over freely. I will rebuild the top end and replace all the seals. Looks like all I need to complete the engine is an alternator, full exhaust, and speed and reference sensors...

Thanks, Rasta.

I'm going to start pulling the engine sometime this week. I'm going to replace the flex damper with my N/A clutch left over from my 951 swap. It would be a giant waste of time to build this engine only to have the flex damper break.

While parts cars make our world go around its nice to see somebody save one from being parted out. If I had not bought my 87 924S when I did it was going to be parted out. I applaud your efforts to save another one!

Thanks, for saving yours too! I figured that I can always buy another parts car, but this just seemed like a fun project.

So far I haven't done anything but look over the car and try to figure out what I need. I picked up some parts parts Friday. Also, these are the seat covers that came with my '88 that should look great for this martini tribute.

Speaking of which, anyone got a link to some martini stripe kits?

I received this today. I'm going to use this instead of a badge on the nose panel.

that would be cool to paint around on an actual nose emblem sorry I'm an airbrush artist and custom painter. A little pinstriping paint could make that happen easily.

I found it on ebay. I have no idea if it will actually hold up to being on a car, but for $5 I thought it looked cool.

Strictly, that would be interesting. At the moment I'm thinking about doing something like this...

I believe that's a single strip of printed vinyl. I don't plan to do any painting on the car, just going to wash it and put some stickers on it.

Should be really fast considering the size of those stickers
