I would love to be dropping in a nice new shiny everything perfect engine like that some day but I seem to be caught in a perpetual whirlpool of prototype stage.. Maybe what I want is something to tinker with rather than a finished product for now..

Anyway that's a beautiful engine and its great to see people caring for these cars like this..

I am doing all of the work to my car in my driveway. Lots of time and hard work. When I found my car on C/L for $800 I thought that so cheap that I had to buy it. Over the last 2 years I have grown to love it.

. Thanks for the tip on the fuel lines. I will be ordering a set this week. What about lines hoses and tank at the rear. Tank looks good on the bottom? From what I have read you seem to be the man in the know around the fuel tank area. Paul

Personally, I think the plastic tank conversion is a no brainer on any 924s you are planning to keep. Porsche made the switch for a reason.

A for the rear lines, they are easy to inspect and cheap to replace. . .good maintenance.

[quote="Fasteddie313"]I would love to be dropping in a nice new shiny everything perfect engine like that some day...quote] My engine isn't new. I pulled it out of a parts car. There were so many oil leaks that I did a full tear down and clean. I plastigauged the bearings and checked the ring gap, all where in great shape. Had the head resurfaced to clean it up and then lapped the valves. . I replaced every gasket and seal and cleaned for weeks to get it to look like that. I just spent the weekend cleaning and detailing the engine bay to look good enough for my engine. As soon as my fuel lines come in and are installed the engine is going back in.

I had planned to get my engine back in today but my boss had other plans for me. . Oh well. I did get my flywheel/clutch/bell housing back together. Tomorrow it goes back in the car!

It's in now. I still have a long way to go. I will have to put it on the back burner for awhile. My honey do list has been growing all summer. I have been putting stuff off telling my wife as soon as engine goes back in I will take a break and catch up on things I've been slacking on.

I have been getting a few things done thru the winter. With the mild weather I have polished some parts(intake manifold-throttle body-water neck). I love polished aluminum. It's hard work but I think it is so worth it and it gives me something to do while waiting for parts.

Nice work... I like the polished intake. I've been wanting a set of polished phone dials forever. I tried doing a set once but didn't get far. How did you polish your parts? They look great!

I will try to put together a "how to" this weekend. I keep looking at my wheels and thinking about it. I would probably have them sand blasted to remove all paint and primer before a LOT of hand sanding.
