Wait, so a 944 tps is plug and play for a S2? If so is there a specific model and year range to look for? Sorry to cut in on the discussion but I've been searching for a bit of information about this and couldn't find anything definitive.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what Peep said... though I decided to go for the cheaper Volvo part, just on cost, as noted.

So last night I was looking through an old Porsche parts catalogue (remember when we used to order from those, lol) and was able to cross reference the tps from the early 944. They actually had the part listed as 93160611900 for the 83-84 944, and then part number 94460611301 for 85 and up 944. Then I opened up a PET catalogue to double check the part number. They didn't list the 931 number, only 94460611301 for that particular range of 944. Finally I went to my nearest Porsche dealer's website and tried the 94460611301 number for the tps. They listed it as available (for the low, low price of $550.00!) and as the superseded part number for the 931 part. Seems to confirm that a 944 tps, at least from the early na, is the same as what came on the S2 931.

If that's the case - it's no sensor, just a series of switches, and of no use. Though it does indeed look like a modern TPS.

Its interesting actually

If you start following the numbers you get updated versions that are supposedly backwards compatible. From the 944 versions you end up at the 968 which has a PN that starts with 944. When you search that one you get a basic Bosch PN and that one leads you to a whole host of cars including late 90's 911's and then Ferrari 355 and others, Saab, 'Volvo' , etc.

0-280-122-004

This will give you a ton of choices followed by other superseding PN's

Edit: Just ordered a cheap one for testing.

Bought 5 new injectors..
Will see if I can’t get em a little more even at very low flow with 9 injectors in my hands to mix and match..

Hopefully help out my idle and very light load conditions run well at higher AFRs..

T belt and tensioner, spark plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, coolant cap, air box straps, oil filter, injectors, will all be waiting for me..
Should be able to do all that in an afternoon..

Delete fuel accumulator..
Drive to shop and fix/reweld an exhaust hanger..
Retune slightly as needed..

Maybe I can accomplish that..

Planning quite a road trip.. Across the mackinaw bridge..
Want to take the 931..

Would like to hit a dyno one the way out.. One kinda on the way I think..

I have the TPS now for quite some time but need to test it. Everything else is either in hand or on its way. Lower chamber pressure sensor for monitoring takes about a month+ to arrive which is fine (plus I don't need it for CIS-E).

Merc DPR/EHA Connector also inbound for the harness. If I would recommend a DPR to someone else, go "grey" which is VW and has a more readily available connector. Different initial tuning parameters though

Will be moving this over to the proper thread but figured I'd post up here on more time as an update.

I don't know why I like this feature but I really like that FrankenCIS operates like a regular CIS if something goes wrong. Easy limp home mode built in without effort

Straight from Pelican thread...

" KE-Jetronic..... there are two versions of KE or CIS-E. The earlier VW/Audi units run similar system pressure to the original CIS. Sytem pressure around 70+ PSI and a grey DPR appear to be the identifiers.

KE3-Jetronic and KE-Motronic as above for KE but operate at 90+ PSI meaning a potential for greater fuel delivery and AFR authority. The Mercedes units we are testing so far all appear to be KE3 or KE-Motronic. Apparently a black DPR valve is the visual identifier. The black and grey DPRs are interchangeable if adjusted....
"

There is a screw on the back that can be adjusted. I took a look and of course its somewhat of a pain because the screw is on the backside. You have to remove the DPR/EHA, adjust, and re-install.

Once I have the Merc DPR connector PN, I'll post it up

It’s just a little 2 wire thing.. Mine came with two of them for some reason..

Pretty sure I have an extra one somewhere that I would totally give you but I’m across the country as usual and have no idea where it is...

No problem, thanks, I got one now. At least I'll be able to share the connector body and pin PN's.

These are for Mercedes "Black" DPR / EHA Only!

0115457128 DPR Connector
0035452626 DPR Connector Pin ...need 2

"Grey" version is VW and has a readily available connector. Grey initial setting on back screw is different from black version

Fired her up for the first time in long while..
No laptop..

It’s cold.. Still snow..
Finger the plate and TB while girl turns key..
Roars to life..

Rich idle, good sign ECU is working..
Rad fans come on.. ECU must be working..
Fuel cut works.. ECU IS working..
(All at standstill)

Idles, revs, stays cool..

Drove about 4 miles.. Zero brakes (borrowed calipers to test on 941 shaking)..

Creeped slow.. 3rd cruise at most..

Had to hit boost once ya know..
2nd..
Spool, pull, AFR dumps to high 11s, spins lots, clutch, back to creep cruise..

STILL WORKS!!

In garage..
About to go up on blocks to become road worthy..

I can’t wait!
I LOVE this car!!

It’s gonna look so good with the 928 staggered 7/8 gullydeckles on it for the first time after I put the brakes back together..

Mmmmm...
