Problem: wiper speed sucks for driving 130+kph in heavy rain. Not a ground/voltage problem. Would replacing the motor with an early 944 motor make any difference? Suggestions on increasing wiper motor speed?
------------
2nd problem (while we're at it). Is there an easy "bolt in" and stock looking solution for the heater fan? Is the early 944 heater any better? I have thoughts on modifications but conventional upgrades might be smarter. Would like to retain stock look & don't want to have a super tough job with lots of customization ahead.

The fan problem is that at least the early ones are an propeller blade type(like in a box fan) and they generate very little pressure consequently very low flow. There don't seem to be any replacement motors for them available either. In the How To I think there are articles on converting to an early 944 air box with its squirrel cage blower and much better flow. If you could change the ducting from the stock ribbed flex stuff to something with a smooth interior wall it would probably help quite a bit.
I converted the stock air box to a squirrel cage VW blower and it worked, but it got pretty ugly to do. That write up is in the How To section also.
Maybe someone with factory AC could say how that works as it would have a very different system and might be adapted. My project car had what looked like a dealer add-on AC and it was pretty ugly and ate up a good percentage of the passenger space. _________________ Mike

Early 944 wiper motor and blower would be a great upgrade over the early 924 ones. _________________ https://www.the924.com |
