Here is what I have got.

When I bought my 924S it had an aftermarket, MOMO gear knob. At certain RPM there is a slight rattle through the knob. I can put my hand on it and it goes away. So I have swaped out the knob for others and the noise is still there. I removed the boot and the conection between the lever and the shaft seems pretty tight.

I am going to go nuts, does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

use lock tight on the nuts other wise they will come loos also go a size smaller and get a piece of plastic to cover it so it doesn't rattle

My grandfather was a mechanic/service manager from 1916 until he retired in 1966.

He said without a doubt the best thing that was ever put in a car was a radio. "When you hear a rattle", he used to say, "all it means is that you haven't turned the radio up far enough".

The shifter itself is a high wear item. In new condition, it is a straight shaft. As it wears, it gets tapered on both ends until finally the circlip falls off!. A new shifter from the dealer is about $45 and makes a HUGE difference in the shifter feel.
