Intercooler install

...And an update that I hope helps people. Fuel pump ran continuously as well as frequency valve. Pulled relay from my S1 and that problem disappeared. Easy enough.
Then after an hour of sitting in a parking lot, near my house thankfully, car failed to start. No fuel pump this time. Once at my house (second time I am pushing this car this week) I swapped in another fuel pump relay. Still no pump. Since I have a pigtail from boost switch, due to its new location on the intercooler, I allowed the connection to touch ground...pump back in action and it fired right up _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Found some oil in the intake though so rebuilding the turbo before all this is permanent. Plus a few things need to go out for ceramic coating

Finally figured out one tiny detail holding me back from testing the billet engine mount bracket. Mounted it yesterday into the rolling test bed that is the '82. Weight wise, with both the billet Turbo Mount and Bracket, its like the original iron bracket plus some never existed. It fit perfectly. No issues.
Got to have everything done a ready for Spring when this Chicago weather finally turns positive. Might pull the torque tube (more on this in a bit) but gas tank is out so is the transmission obviously as well as the turbo.

Seein as the 924 NA and Turbo engine mounts a No Longar Available new, are you going to engineer the arm to allow for engine mounts that are available new?

I am working on some ideas and this one obviously works with the stock and currently available aftermarket. It seems like everyone reports that the aftermarket one, even in street form, is too harsh. Johann, I believe you actually tried and didn't like them? So a better solution would be nice. A sudo active one would be even better _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Been doing a lot of thinking regarding the actual mount from the original to hydraulic to fully active. Just seeing whats out there in the "suspension style". I know what people here really want especially in their street cars... comfort and performance
In the mean time the 82 is about to get a 2660 update. The turbo from one of the parts cars ate something which has allowed me to test fitment for the new billet wheel. Fits perfectly

Not sure why you go with the small wheel, but its nice with the billet wheels. Where did you find it? havent seen any 2660 replacement wheels before?
would be nice if you could measure the area between the blades, that would indicate the max flow, and how it differs between those two. The oem 2660 is not a very good idea as a long term solution for running 1 bar, efficiency is very low and turbo speeds are getting very very high, the billet could definetly flow more though. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

So to answer your question. Technically this is my fathers car and I am bumping him up slowly even though he has always liked how my 80 had the boost come in later and harder especially with elevated boost. He likes the linear feeling though of this 82
This just got interesting. I wanted to make sure I have my facts straight before giving you the PN which might cause others searching here to go buy something that doesn't work. So we quickly rigged up a test with a bore scope to compare the US S2 2660 wheel to the billet wheel in the stock compressor housing.
The turbo I am using for all this checking came off the crashed '82 parts car which had its tag removed and another rebuild tag hanging off one of the other bolts. Whomever rebuilt this in the past was either dumb or crooked.
The pics revealed they had a 2660 wheel in a 2664 housing. The gap around the wheel is huge
To prove the point I pulled out a K26/8 to show how a gap is supposed to look like. I'll post some pics in a minute plus I'll need to dig up a genuine 2660 housing which I don't collect on purpose since I am a 2664 guy and dislike the 2660 linearity _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

2664 compressors I believe are more plentiful in the US as you guys mostly had K26 2664 4.10 turbos on your cars. In the UK many trashed turbos were replaced with K26 2660 6.10 or 4.10. I had to source a 2664 wheel and housing from the USofA as there were none this side of the pond.
Personally and I believe Cedric will concur, the 2664 with a #6 turbine would be the best option for the rebuild where possible. I have one 6.10 housing but plenty of 2664 / 4.10 but most of my 4.10's are cracked. One 4.10 for sure is not. Those 6.10's are hard to get. The only reason I got this one is because I speak German
