This is related to a 944 S2 but I am guessing the power steering pump is the same.

Pump seems to have stopped working, not leaking just not working at all. I have been told it could be a stuck vane? Is it possible to rebuild these? Seems replacement is about US$200 so is there a cheaper VW alternative perhaps?

Rebuild isn't terribly hard to do.

You'll want to replace the reservoir and its in-built filter.

You may also want to replace the seals in the rack since it will likely need them.
