I have a '82 turbo, that does not start.
Turns over, but has no spark. We're thinking it's the crank position sensor......

I know theses are '81,'82 specific. I can't seem to find one anywhere.

I'm new to the forum, and I'll use the search button to start looking for threads on the subject.

Are there any substitute sensors?

There are 2 or 3 possible substitutes but none have been tested yet.
You can still find the sensors from parted cars. Place and ad here, you'll get some offers i'm sure.

Why, have you tested it?

The 931 is an expensive car to throw parts at it......

oh, forgot to mention, it could also be the ignition amplifier, the thing on the wheel well. Thats a standard BOSCH part, you can surely get it for a beer at breakers yard.

We've checked the amplifier, and we opened up the computer under the radio. Everything seems to be fine there

Did you check the thread at the top of this sub-forum?

http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=22724

Try bypassing the pressure switch and fuel pump relay and see if that helps.

Commonly the electrical connections are the issue nine times out of ten.

Verify you have spark and fuel and work back from there.
