Hey everybody -
Just wondering if these two fuel lines can be replaced without dropping the gas tank? I filled up my tank today and these lines feel moist and wreak of gasoline. Not fun to drive in a car with those raw gas fumes.

Wow, since you unearthed this part, which is not for the faint of heart, (the white plastic cover can be brittle) you might as well drop the tank. Looking at PET, you have two vents, one by the filler and the other on the other end.

Answer is no, and if you are committed to the car, Dave is right about dropping the tank and restoring everything in the area. _________________ Toofah King Bad

which part is the white plastic cover. The cover that I removed was a metal cover. _________________ MOD

The metal cover superceeded the plastic cover for fire resistance.

Not really. Take the rubber portion of the filler neck off at the tank & it is much easier. If you leave it connected to the tank, you'll fight it because it hangs up on the way down.
You'll have to remove or at least lower the trans to get the tank out. That's the hardest part of the job. |

Just finished up the job. Took down the tranny and while I was there I fixed an exhaust leak too. I replaced the gas lines and buttoned everything back up. No more fuel smell and a much smoother idle and responsivness as well by fixing the exhaust leak. _________________ MOD
