Dan -

Thank you for your hospitality. Ideola's Garage is a fantastic place. I think it is fair to say that you are the Willy Wonka of 924's and your farm is your chocolate factory.

Our out-of-town guests arrived Friday, but none of the locals chose to camp out due to severe thunderstorms that evening. Saturday turned out to be a picture perfect day. My father-in-law made his famous biscuits-and-gravy (best you'll have north of the Mason-Dixon line) for our overnight guests, and then prepared "City Chicken" (bacon-wrapped veal and pork on skewers, battered and baked) along with home made cole slaw, fresh garden salad, bread from our local downtown Woodstock bakery, baked beans, home made four-berry cobbler, apple cobbler, and banana split cake. And of course, a variety of cold beverages.

Several of our guests were unable to bring their p-cars, but we did see an 87 951, and 86 951, a 92 968, and a 90 928 S4. Which was cool because we had the entire water-pumper lineup represented! Throughout the day, we had 18 guests come by, so I was really pleased with the turnout. Hoping for more p-cars at the next one, though.

We had a riot shooting the potato canon, going on polaris ride, bench racing, and went out for a number of back country drives in the vicinity. Several guests were treated to drives in the Cayman, and I was treated to drives in the 86 951 and 92 968. I was so busy entertaining, I never got a chance to get the camera out, so most the pix above were provided by our guests.

We tried static guard, but it was no better than starting fluid, so we went back to that. I'm convinced the combustion chamber is too small, resulting in too-easily-overfueled mixture. But we installed a battery operated igniter, which does rapid-fire sparking, resulting in much greater consistency of ignition. It seems the trick is to get just the right amount of vaporization of the starting fluid, which is pretty difficult to do consistently. But fun nonetheless...we were launching some well over 100 yards.

We had bonfire on Saturday night. For what it's worth, Valvoline starting fluid creates a nice blue flame, which isn't visible during the day We tried creating tracer potatos, but the starting fluid wouldn't ignite on the spud, or the flame got blown out due to the acceleration

Never knew you guys were so close (I'm in Spring Grove), someone mentioned this get together to me at the last pca concourse. I'm going to register this weekend. The only question is which car to bring. A concourse ready 944 turbo, or my 924 turbo that's partially restored. I'm thinking 924 turbo because it would be appreciated, and maybe I can get some pointers on my faulty interior wiring mess.

I have not had any success with it. But I think the AFR in our spud gun is off. Not sure if the chamber is too big or too little. The thing that has worked most reliably has been starter fluid.

what kind of ignition are you using? my brothers and I built one a long time ago and we just used matches held up to a hole in the cap.

For September 2017, we will be reprising the big annual celebration we've done for the past two years. It will be more informal than last year's 92Forty event, but no less fun!!! Overnight guests are welcome to camp out on Friday and Saturday nights, but please contact me to confirm your plans.

We'll be having brats and Deanna's chili bar. Please plan to bring a dish or side to pass, along with your favorite beverage. A per-person donation of $10 would be appreciated (pay at the door) to help defray rental costs for chairs, food, supplies, and the commodes.

All car enthusiasts are welcome, but we'll reserve parking in the upper lot for our favorite marque!
