Will a set of 951 Brembo 4 pot calipers clear a set of cookie cutter 15" wheels??? Or do I need to upgrade/upsize?? _________________ I got way to many projects |

I think they only work with 15" fuchs but i might be wrong. If the calipers cone from a 951S then minimum wheel size is 16" _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I think you need 16" rims minimum. I have 4-pot Brembos from an '86 951 on my car, I will loo at the clearance tonight. The rims on the car currently are 16" trashcans.

The only 15" wheels I've seen that will clear Brembos are vintage three piece BBS. None of the standard Porsche 15" rims will clear. Also, the 911 16" Fuchs will not clear, if you want to run 16" Fuchs with Brembos, you have to get the 951 part number. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Seeing that I am never going to track this car, the best thing to do would be either upgrade the brakes to single piston 944, or just a really good set of pads for the 931 _________________ I got way to many projects |

Does your car have 4-lug or 5-lug? If you currently have 4-lug setup, you can upgrade quite easily to a standard 5-lug setup sourced from a late 924/931 or a 924S or early 944. The single piston floating caliper 5-lug 4-wheel disc setup is plenty capable for spirited street driving, and even track duty, when properly maintained, rebuilt, and outfitted with fresh rotors and pads.

Also, if you need a five lug conversion, I have at least one complete setup already removed and essential ready for bench rebuild and installation. I'm not that far from Kohler... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

There's also the Volvo 4-piston front caliper upgrade for the stock single piston 5-lug brake setups detailed here.
There is a Wilwood front caliper kit available as well that should fit under a 15" wheel.
I'm not sure about the effectiveness of either solution, but in theory they should provide a better brake solution for threshold braking due to their stiffer caliper bodies. _________________ Stefan

Unless he has a 4-lug car, then the front calipers are very similar, but not the same.
Proper adjusting of the rear drums at every oil change helps pedal feel quite a bit. _________________ Stefan

Ergo the (5-lug set up) in brackets. Seriously ?
If he has the crap ass 4-lug why would he bother putting on a $400 set of Brembo's when he could upgrade the ENTIRE suspension with a 5-lug that Dan is offering.

One huge advantage of the Volvo calipers is availability of parts. They made millions of 240s and you can get parts for them anywhere. |
