Has anybody ever put a ram air duct where the horns are (left side valance grille)?
I measured and got 11"X11"X12" triangle 4" thick, 12" is the scoop/open/front side..
Hole in the top of the scoop way in the back corner where the 2 11" sides meet with a pipe that runs straight up through where I just removed that AC bottle with the sensor on it, nice space in the chassis there where it looks like a tow hook style thing pokes down. Kindof under the headlight motor.
90 that pipe at the top toward the original airbox and modify the intake on the bottom side of the airbox into a flange to hook to the pipe.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified

Just remove that plate and route a smooth-walled pipe to the turn signal opening.
Lots of SPEC guys do it, but it actually works better on 944s with a connection to the foglight opening.
If you use an accordian style hose then you might actually hurt your power output. _________________ 1987 924S SPEC car

I'm also seriously eyeballing an intercooler instalation..
I have this audi 2664 (S1 931 size) compressor housing that is much smaller everywhere with a shorter output pipe that I think I can index upside down and run the boost pipe across the steering rack area under the crank pulley and then U around to infront of the radiator on the drivers side..
I fiddled with my fuel distributor, the lines that come across the inner fender, I unhooked them and turned the ends upside down and reattached them so the lines go down from the dizzy instead of up giving me enough room between the dizzy head and the washer bottle for a charge pipe to come up through the passengers side of the plate where the hood latch is, to the left of the hood latch if looking from the front, use the cut and shape the upper charge tube method.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

hose under headlight motor

hose next to the airbox intake

see the hose behind the valance by the front wheel

dizzy lines moved, the ones with the big bolts, the banjo ends of these lines are on twist fittings, you can spin them, the whole metal end..
[img][/img]
my thingamajig that plugs the afr adjustment hole, and adjusts it, the strap to the line is so it cant disappear or fall into my timing belt

Here you can see the dizzy before I moved the lines..

intended path of charge pipe, see the thingamajig doing its duty..

No I dont plan on using that hose, its a little too small.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified

heres that audi compressor housing compared to a 931 s1 compressor housing, the audi compressor housing is 100% interchangeable onto a 931 S1, takes the same wheel, and is much smaller..
[img][/img]
it looks taller because it has its bolts on making it sit higher, the finish on the inside of its scroll is much improved over the 931 housing, frosted vs icky cast

here is the audi watercooled bearing housing next to a 931 bearing housing with no wheels on it bare...
[img][/img]
That is the UP side, oil input side..
You can see that the seals proof mark on the 931 turbo matches the hole in the audi turbo..
the audi turbo has smaller diameter studs and there just a touch farther apart from eachother center to center but outside to outside they are almost exact, this thing just might bolt up with some massaging to the bracket it hooks to to maybe clear the water fitting and ream out the stud holes a bit if its not good enough allready..
I think it just may work but I'm not hung up on the water cooled aspect, I might just build all its parts onto a 931 bearing housing for simplicity, yes I can do that no prob and the shaft/wheels are marked and still on balance, I've allready had it apart and back together, looks brand new, the black on the turbine wheel is some kind of rust preventative stuff I think, rubbery and comes flying right off at the sight of any thinner, it came with the hot side completely coated in the stuff with caps on it, I really dont think its burnt oil..
Well this next pic was supposed to compare the drain sides but it seems I forgot to flip the 931 housing over, this is the audi drain line fitting anyway.. it is diferent but the drain should be easy enough to fab up myself..
And also you can obviously see the water fittings..
The audi housing is the exact same as the 931 S1 housing as far as its innards, everything is completely swappable..
It would be nice to have another 931 turbo to block mount handy to play with, hint hint, I also still have my eyes open for any 951 turbo cheap for pieces, bigger compressors, bearing housings.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

I would need to make/modify an intercooler to look something like this..

or miraculously find one.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
