Hey everybody-

I had my mechanic change out my ignition switch [the whole piece [mechanical and electrical] not just the tumbler] and now I have a strange consistent sound when I drive over 30 MPH. The sound seems like it is coming from the steering column/dash area right where he changed out the part. It is sort of a clicking sound, almost like the sound of a relay failing. Click ...Click....Click. It goes away when I am at a red light. I tried to recreate the sound by jiggling the steering wheel and taping on the steering column but no luck. It seems internal. I know its not my keys because I only had the one key in the ignition.

Once I hit the gas pedal and go around 30MPH it is there again. I am going to take it back to him tomorrow morning to see what it might be. Thoughts?

I brought my car to my mechanic and he thinks it might be the speedo cable as well. It sure is strange how it was working perfectly fine before I had the ignition switch changed and now its not. Cars do weird things for sure.

I will keep you posted.

Update: It's the speedo cable. It's on order and will be swapped out next week. It seems the more I fix- the more it breaks. Sheeeeesh.
